Exterior
The monolithic design with few but distinct lines adds character and makes the vehicle appear powerful. The BMW iX is tough while remaining clean and elegant.
Striking
The BMW iX’s front end has been redesigned in a futuristic style. The vertically aligned BMW kidney grille, combined with the narrowest twin headlights ever produced by BMW for standard production vehicles, emphasises the SAV’s progressive appearance.
Aerodynamic
The generously proportioned rectangular contours surrounding the wheel arches draw attention to the wheels. The flush door handles, frameless doors, and the “Streamflow” window outline that tapers towards the back are all harmoniously integrated into the overall appearance.
Sleek
Large surfaces, the BMW Group’s narrowest rear lights, and a seamlessly integrated tailgate create a modern presence. The large diffuser elements improve aerodynamics and range when combined with the flat underbody.

Interior
Minimalist interior design.
The interior design is modern and focused on the essentials, as evidenced by the displays and controls. The glassy iDrive Controller on the centre console serves as the primary control element, and it is framed by an elegant control panel made of FSC-certified wood.
Lounge seating in the rear.
The absence of the central tunnel allows the BMW iX to provide a spacious lounge environment for the rear passengers. Heating and 3D loudspeakers integrated into the headrests are additional options for the rear seats. To increase the capacity of the luggage compartment, the rear seat backrest splits in a 40:20:40 ratio.
Panorama glass roof.
The full-length “Sky Lounge” panoramic glass roof gives the cabin a generous sense of space and a relaxed lounge atmosphere. It can be electrochromatically shaded for increased privacy, and because there is no need for an interior headliner, it provides passengers with even more headroom while maintaining a modern appearance.
BMW Curved Display.
For the first time in a production vehicle, the BMW Curved Display serves as the central display and control element for the BMW iX’s fully digital stage. The 12.3′′ information display combines with the 14.9′′ Control Display to form a single unit that gives the appearance of a free-floating picture frame on the instrument panel.
Performance
THE BMW iX WITH 326 HP.
The BMW iX offers outstanding electric performance thanks to two powerful electric motors and BMW xDrive electric all-wheel drive: an output of 326 hp propels the BMW iX xDrive40 from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The BMW iX’s instantly available torque and steeples acceleration from a standstill enable it to respond precisely and spontaneously to every movement of the accelerator pedal and provide a smooth driving experience.
Sustainability
HOLISTIC SUSTAINABILITY IN THE BMW iX.
The BMW iX emits 45 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions over its entire life cycle when compared to a SAV with a comparable powerful combustion engine, thanks to the comprehensive sustainability concept. The reason for this is the use of only renewable energies during production, as well as the use of natural and recycled materials, such as the floor mats made entirely of Econyl.
Design
RETHINKING DESIGN WITH THE BMW iX.
The BMW iX’s monolithic shape is achieved through generously proportioned surfaces and distinctive lines. Every detail blends seamlessly into the modern design language, giving the impression that the car was created from a single mould. The aerodynamic design of the panels, as well as specific features such as the window outline that tapers towards the rear, were critical in achieving the outstanding cd value of 0.25. For the first time, flush handles and frameless doors are seen on a BMW SAV, revealing the vehicle’s innovative spirit.
Shy Tech
BMW iX SHY TECH CONCEPT.
The Shy Tech concept focuses on the passengers and allows the BMW iX’s modern technology to blend into the background until it is required or explicitly desired. This invisible intelligence can be felt in many exterior and interior details, such as the kidney grille, which serves as an intelligent surface and houses camera technology, radar functions, cutting-edge sensor technology, and heating elements. Other examples include the audio system’s invisibly embedded speakers and the interior’s minimalist button design.
Living Space
LIVING SPACE ON WHEELS.
The BMW iX’s interior is a one-of-a-kind place to unwind, with architecture inspired by modern interior design. With their high-quality colour and material choices, its elements, such as the flat dashboard with the large BMW Curved Display and the slim seats, all resemble pieces of furniture. The absence of a centre tunnel, as well as the largest Panorama glass roof ever installed in a BMW, create an impressive sense of space that invites you to linger.
Interior and features
The iX’s cabin appears luxurious and technologically advanced on the inside. It gets a new polygonal two-spoke steering wheel, a curved driver’s display, a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, head-up display, seat-integrated speakers, four-zone climate control, and ambient lighting, as well as a crystal-finished gear selector and dials. The cabin was built from recycled materials. The surface of the doors, centre console, and seats, for example, is 50 percent recycled polyester, while the dashboard is tanned with olive leaves.
Driver assistance features on the iX include lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, lane change warning with active return, and front collision warning.

1. Why do the ranges vary?
- The range of an electric vehicle is determined by several factors, including driving style, route conditions, vehicle equipment, weather conditions, and payload.
2. In detail
- High average speeds (highway) significantly reduce range, whereas inner-city traffic leads to a higher range due to lower speed and higher recuperation shares (in contrast to vehicles with internal combustion engines). Furthermore, at low temperatures due to heating and at high temperatures due to strong air conditioning, the range is reduced. In terms of special features/equipment, larger tyre combinations generally reduce the range (if the aerodynamic disadvantage is not compensated for by a more closed wheel design).
3. General range specification and range values in this indicator
- The communicated range is based on the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Test Procedure) cycle in the model selection.
- The WLTP standard allows for the calculation of range under specified driving conditions. The WLTP model assumes a defensive driving style with a mix of city streets, country roads, and highways.
- You can estimate the range using the range indicator under normal driving conditions. The outer circle represents the calculated range value based on linear distances (rather than the actual street map), while the inner circle represents the calculated value -of 30% to account for actual routes.
4. What are the assumptions underlying the driving style settings?
- Setting a “sporty” driving style assumes all highway driving at an average speed of around 130 km/h and a dynamic overtaking style. The “economical” mode assumes defensive driving on country roads at a speed of around 80 km/h. In-between settings produce a hybrid of the two.
