The Chinese EV maker BYD, reportedly sold 603,782 new energy vehicles throughout 2021. Following the release of EV BYD Dolphin, the company is looking to continue its ocean-themed design and names into its new EV models as well. Several Chinese news outlets have leaked the new names to be BYD Seal, BYD Seagull, and BYD Sea Lion. BYD Seal is set to be announced in Q1 of 2022 in China with a retail price of around 150 to 200 thousand RMB. BYD Seagull will be announced in Q2 of 2022 in China and is aimed at entry-level customers. Q3 of 2022 is expecting to see the launch of BYD Sea Lion which will be a premium EV.
