Instead of a traditional IPO, Gogoro is combining with the acquisition firm Poema Global Holdings Corp. The SPAC will see it listed under the ticker GGR. Gogoro has gradually added more stakes to the arrangement, most recently Hero Motocorp, a motorbike manufacturer. Yamaha, for example, has expressed interest in implementing Gogoro’s swappable batteries into their scooters. In less than five years, Gogoro has grown its local Taiwanese membership base to over 400,000 users who exchange batteries in their electric scooters. During that time, the company’s revenue in its home market alone surpassed $1 billion. Indeed, Gogoro has expanded at such a rapid pace that Taiwan may soon have more battery switch stations than petrol stations.
