The Maharashtra Government had earlier introduced an ‘Early Bird’ incentive scheme which offers additional benefits to customers over the central government’s FAME II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicle). In addition to the current Maharashtra EV Policy which offers an incentive of ₹ 5,000 per kWh, the Early Bird Incentive offers an additional benefit of ₹ 5,000 per kWh which can go up to ₹ 1 lakh. Aaditya Thackeray announced that owing to the 157% growth in EV registrations in the state, the government has decided to increase the scheme’s deadline from 31st December 2021 to March 31, 2022.
