The decision to install EV charging facilities planned at Indian railway stations comes in alliance with the Central Government’s FAME-II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and EV) scheme. This scheme aims to foster the fast adoption of EVs as an eco-friendly alternative in the transport sector. The NITI Aayog is in discussions with the Indian Railways to set up EV charging facilities across major railway stations in the country. The policy by NITI Aayog recommends putting up EV charging facilities powered by renewable energy resources. The policy aims to make the Indian Railways net-zero carbon emitter by 2030.
