Tesla’s Battery Partner Panasonic plans to use recycled materials

EV registrations in India have crossed the mark of 50,000 for the first time in December 2021 as reported by  JMK Research and Analytics. This has led to a 240% YoY jump from the numbers recorded in December 2020. December 2020 haTesla’s main battery partner Panasonic plans to use recycled materials that will be supplied by a startup. This way the lithium-ion cells can be manufactured in a sustainable fashion. Redwood Materials will begin to supply Panasonic with copper foil in the year 2022 to make new lithium-ion cells at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada. By reusing old batteries and scraps, Panasonic will be able to meet the goal of sustainable production. By the end of 2022, the company expects to include Redwood’s copper foil produced from recycled materials back into their new battery production. Redwood Materials is now moving quickly to become a leading supplier of recycled materials that it’s recovering from used batteries, battery scrap and electronics.
