UK Anode Startup Nexeon Receives an Investment of $80 Million From the SKC Consortium

The SKC consortium, which includes private equity companies SJL Partners and BNW Investment, invested $33 million in Nexeon. Nexeon is known for producing silicon anodes, which are an important component of electric vehicle (EV) batteries that help to increase vehicle range and charging speed while lowering charging costs. As automakers compete to bring more electric vehicles to market, they’re experimenting with alternative chemistries to improve their vehicles’ range and gain a competitive advantage. The funding, along with a new strategic relationship with SK, will allow the firm to expand manufacturing and satisfy “rapidly expanding demands from its blue-chip customers in the automotive and consumer electronics industries across Europe, North America, and Asia,” according to the company.
